NEONATAL NURSE BY: KATHY GUTIERREZ
NEONATAL NURSING • Neonatal Nurses are registered nurses that take care of newborn babies. Neonatal nurses work in three types of nurseries. Level I nurseries are for healthy babies that can leave out of the hospital quick. Level II nurseries are for premature or very ill babies that stay in the hospital for about a month. Level III nurseries are for babies that are very ill and haven’t been treated in the first two nurseries. Babies in Level III nurseries require a lot of medical help. • Education: Needs to attend college or university for 2 -4 years to become a registered nurse or nurse practitioner. Go to programs that train registered nurses for 2 years. Or go to hospitals that provide a 3 year training program. You need to complete general education courses and prerequisite courses in science. When you’re in nursing school you need to complete courses in microbiology, human anatomy and physiology, chemistry, biology, and organic chemistry.
