According to scientists, life began in Africa. ● Eventually, people migrated around the globe as nomads searching for food and shelter. ● People then began to settle and began practicing agriculture.
Agricultural Revolution ● As a result of these migrations, people began to settle in new areas and begin farming ● Agriculture was becoming the way of life for most people. ● They were settling in permanent shelters, as opposed to the temporary shelters they were using as nomads. Why?
Agricultural Revolution Cont. ● People began to domesticateanimals and plants ● Domesticate means to change for human use. ● They would keep cows for milk, sheep for wool, and other herd animals for ● food. They would take plants from the wild and plant them in fields
Tools ● Nomads in the Paleolithicera were using tools made out of bone, stone, and wood. ● People in the Neolithic time were using tools made of bronze ● Bronze tools are much stronger than stone tools ● Bronze tools made farming more efficient ● Work also became more specialized
Impact of the Agricultural Revolution ● Because of the permanent settlements and surplus of food, the population grew ● People specialized their labor. Meaning, one person made wool, another grew corn, another kept cattle, another made tools. ● By doing this they could trade with one another. ● We call this a barter economy. People barter and trade with one another to receive what they need.
