Importance In a project, it involves creating of a set of plans to help guide your team through the execution and closure phases of the project. They will also help you manage staff and external suppliers, to ensure that you deliver the project on time and within budget. The way to define the problem Agree with the team where the team should be in discussion Describe and document the problem
Apply the 5 'W’s (Who, What, Where, When and Why) to the problem statement. Some questions that can be useful Why do you think there is a problem? What is happening? When is it happening? Where Who is it happening? do you believe is involved?
How to: Write a valid Problem Statement The purpose of a problem statement is to: Introduce the reader to the importance of the topic being studied Place the topic into a particular context Provide the framework for reporting the results
A technique that helps to identify problems is called TIME Today (What is the situation today? ), Ideal (What would be the ideal outcome? ), Measure (How will we measure progress? ), Essential (Why is this essential to the business? ).
Problem with problems Hasty Decisions: Many organizations have suffered from the consequences of taking hasty decisions in planning a project. Assumed Common Understanding: The Project Champion must question the team members to ensure that they have the correct knowledge regarding the problem to avoid this.
