What are ways the school superintendent can help develop, and sustain a highly effective preschool program? Make literacy a priority! Prioritize literacy as a budget goal. Make sure the most needy students have access to the preschool program. Get the administrative team on board.

Involve all stakeholders in the process…. including the School Board!

Make sure all staff receive high quality professional development.

Invest in quality infrastructure.

Do not forget transportation is a key element to a successful preschool.

Develop a strong reputation- Give them something to talk about! Create a program that parents don’t want their child to miss out on!

Pursue Innovative Strategies to Provide Intervention Instruction NKN High Students enrolled in Child Development use the Preschool as Learning Lab. These students are then recruited as TA’s in the preschool program.
