Access, Equity and Empowerment NCTM Board and staff work: • Engaged in our own professional learning on issues surrounding access, equity, and empowerment. • Book study devoted to The Impact of Identity in K-8 Mathematics. • Professional development with the National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity on micromessaging.
Access, Equity and Empowerment • NCTM has re-framed Access and Equity to include Empowerment, to capture the critical constructs of identity, agency, and social justice. • The Board modified its mission statement and strategic priorities to reflect this reframing of NCTM’s scope to include more than just access and equity.
