AP & IB Credit AP Credit • AP exam scores of 4 or 5 can earn USC credit • Some AP exam scores can count towards General Education and Foreign Language requirement IB Credit • USC grants either 20 units for an IB diploma with a score of 30 or higher or 6 units of credit for each score of 5, 6 or 7 on higher level exams, up to four exams, whichever is higher • A score of 6 or 7 on IB Higher Level foreign language exams will fulfill the USC foreign language requirements
Restrictions on AP & IB Credit • The writing requirements may not be waived due to AP or IB exam results • A maximum of 32 units may be earned through AP, IB and college coursework – A maximum of 16 of these units can be from college coursework taken during high school • Submit your AP scores – (888) Call-4 -AP or go to www. collegeboard. com • Submit your IB scores – www. ibo. org
Placement Exams Foreign Language • http: //language. usc. edu/languages/placement. html • Foreign language results are valid for one year • The test may be taken every six months – Incoming freshman should complete the requirement within 64 USC units – Incoming transfers should complete the requirement within 48 USC units Math and Chemistry • https: //undergrad. usc. edu/services/testing/placement-exams/ • The math and chemistry exams are not required for communication, journalism, or public relations majors, unless you are planning to pursue a double major, minor or take a GE course which requires it
Planning for Summer: Residency Policy • Once a student matriculates to USC, no transfer coursework will be accepted toward GE, writing or major and minor requirements • Once a student matriculates to USC, only foreign language, Diversity, Global Perspectives GE (G and H), and elective coursework can be taken outside of USC • Transfer coursework can be taken in summer only • A maximum of 64 units can be transferred to USC • Once a student reaches junior standing (64 units), only 8 more transfer units are allowed

How Classes are Listed Undergraduate level courses are numbered 100 -499 5 -digit section number Always click on session codes. Important dates and deadlines can vary. D means you need departmental clearance in order to enroll in the course. Department contact information is found on the schedule of classes. If the class has an R next to the section number, then you can enroll without permission. Ten minutes between classes is enough time to get from one location to the next.
