The Storm • June 9, 2010 – Navarro Co. - A storm system stalled-out and dumped 15 -18” of rain into the Richland Creek Watershed near the community of Dawson. • Although the storm lasted 12 hours, most of the rain fell within the last 6 hours.
The Next Morning • Navarro Co. Emergency Management personnel were aware of the flooding. • TCEQ Dam Safety office was contacted.
Inspecting the Damage • A DPS helicopter was sent for NRCS officials to inspect dams within the watershed. • 13 of the districts FP dams had been overtopped by floodwaters. • 3 FP dams had received major damage.

Richland Creek Site 110 • Floodwaters overtopped dam and caused 3 large washouts on the backslope. • Emergency spillway was left with heavy rilling.

Richland Creek Site 31 • Floodwaters overtopped dam but only damaged the emergency spillway. • Damage was caused by cattle trailing in emergency spillway. • Gully came within 15 -20 ft of the control section.
