2019 Economic and Demographic Survey: NSF Dahlgren Findings • • Overall steady growth in personnel, from 11, 017 in the FY 17 snapshot to 11, 224 in FY 18 ATRC temporary student population doubled in FY 18 to 2, 000/yr. • • • Strong to moderate growth in financials compared to last FY Sharp BA growth, by $1 B Slight decline in local contract spending, NSWCDD contractors Naval Support Activity South Potomac 9

2019 Economic and Demographic Survey: NSF Dahlgren Locality NSF Dahlgren continue to overwhelmingly reside in King George County (30 percent of respondents), though the survey total residing there declined from 34 percent in FY 17. Spotsylvania County (16 percent), Stafford County (9 percent) and the City of Fredericksburg (7 percent) comprise the next most popular areas of residence. Naval Support Activity South Potomac 10

Business Notes • More than 11, 000 on base everyday • More than 20, 000 certificates of non-availability issued to visitors by NGIS throughout year. • More than 2, 000 students rotate though base annually. • Limited food options on base (Gray’s Landing, Subway, Ashton’s food truck, Marathon Deli x 2). • Catering Opportunities: More than 100 VIP visits/conferences annually. Community Outreach • • Base employees serve as tutors, mentors, classroom volunteers and science fair judges in local schools. Base supports county holiday assistance program, providing gifts and meals for families in need Feds Feed Families program collects food during summer months to supplement local food banks Military members participate in community programs, including community clean-up and maintenance, support of Dahlgren Museum, animal rescue programs and more Naval Support Activity South Potomac 12
