Natural Resources: Resources obtained from nature are called natural resources.
Types of Natural Resorces 1. Non renewable resources. 2. Renewable resources. • 1. Air 2. Soil 3. Water 4. Minerals • 1. Plants • 2. Animals
Mans basic needs 1. Air 2. Water 3. Food All our needs are met by making use of soil, water, air, plants and animals.
1. Non renewable Resorces The resources that we can never produce by any method are called nonrenewable resources. Examples : -air, water, soil and minerals.
Renewable Resouces The resources which can be produced again and again are called renewable resources. Examples: - plants and animals.
1. Air • Air is a balanced mixture of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gases. • We cannot produce this homogeneous mixture of air by any way. • Air is most useful for all living things. We require oxygen in air for respiration, plants require carbon dioxide in air for photosynthesis. • Aquatic animals use dissolved oxygen.
Air pollution • When fossil oils like petrol, diesel furnace oil etc. are burned, gases like C, 7 sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide etc. are released into the air. • These gases are polluting gases. Though, carbon dioxide in proper quantity(0. 03% of air)is not harmful but increase in its amount in air cause harm. • These gases are emitted by vehicles and factories.
CNG(Compressed Natural Gas) • CNG is Compressed Natural Gas • It is supplied in cylinders and has been introduced in metropolitan cities like Delhi and Mumbai as fuel for public transport vehicles. • The use of CNG reduces the amount of carbon dioxide in the air and hence, reduces air pollution and global warming.
Global Warming • Man’s greed for luxuries has led to unlimited growth in number of factories, vehicles, etc. • Hence, there is an increase in the proportion of carbon dioxide in the air. • Carbon dioxide causes more heat to be retained in the atmosphere. • Above factors have resulted in global warming.
Ice-glaciers becoming less on surface of earth • Global warming causes increasein temperatures. • Ice glaciers which are stores of ice melt and hence, are disappearing fron the earth’s surface.
