Natural Gas
What is gas and where does it come from? • Natural gas is made up of a mixture of Hydrocarbons. • Million of years ago, the remains of plants and animals decayed and built up the thick layers. • The decayed matter from plants and animals is called organic material into coal, some into oil, and some into natural gas.
What is gas and where does it come from? • The ingredient in natural gas is methane, a gas composed of one carbon atom and four hydrogen atoms.
How is gas transformed to energy? Natural gas is pumped into the gas turbine, where is it is mixed with air and burned, converting its chemical energy into heat energy. The heat burning natural gas, produce a mixture of gases called the combustion gas. The pressure drives the combustion gas over the blades of the gas turbines changing it to heat energy.
How gas transformed to energy? • The generator uses an electromagnetic field to convert this mechanical energy to electrical energy.
How does gas affect our lives in a positive ways? • The biggest advantage of natural gas is that they reduce environment harmful emission. • As compared to petroleum of coal, natural gas causes less damage to the environment. • Natural gas is easier to preserve than fuels. It can be stored and transported through pipelines, small storage units, cylinders or tanker on land sea. Positive
How does gas affect our lives in a positive ways? • Natural gas can be piped into houses for heating and cooking purposes and running a variety of appliances. • Natural gas can be used as a fuel for vehicles. It is a cleaner, cheaper fuel than diesel or gasoline. • Natural gas burns cleaner without leaving any smell, ash or smoke.
How does gas affect our lives in a negative ways? • Like other fossil fuels, natural gas produces Carbon Dioxide which damages the atmosphere. • Gas is non-renewable mean it will run out, so we need to save gas energy. Negative
How does gas affect our lives in a negative ways? • If we don’t know it good or not good it very dangerous because if you breath it in your body. Negative
What sources of pollution does gas give out? It gives out Carbon Dioxide. Burning fuels releases harmful pollutant into the air. Pollutant can kill plants, harm our lungs, causes acid rain and are through to contribute to global warming. We burn fuels to produce energy. When these fuels burn, the atoms in the fuels combine with oxygen from the air to make new molecules.
What objects used gas to power them ? It can be used for a lot of thing like • To generate electricity • Heat a lot of building • Fuel vehicles • Heat your water • Bake your food • Even run air conditioners
What objects used gas to power them ? • • Some house like used for space heating In the end of 2013 United State use: 13. 8% for commercial 34. 1 for electric power. 20. 7% for residential 31. 3% for industrial 0. 14% for vehicle fuel
How does gas make car run? • When they put the petrol into car, then the petrol goes into the cylinder. Then the explosion make the pistons move which make the wheel move.
Apart from cars, what else can gas provide energy? • A cleaner transportation for our highways. • Efficient heating water, heating and cooking for home and businesses.
