Natural forms are objects in nature in their natural form. Examples include: Leaves, Flowers, Pine Cones, seaweed, shells, Skulls, bones, insects, fossils, feathers, birds, fish, animals, fur, patterns… In fact, anything you can find in nature. Complete or part of it.
Realism to Abstraction and Finally to Design Firstly, looking at observed forms in detail such as flowers and plants we are going to take our initial studies into semi-abstract and abstract forms. All inspired by the American artist Georgia O’Keeffe (1887 -1986)
Georgia o’Keeffe • Georgia O’Keeffe was born in 1887 and died in 1986. She was 99 when she died • She was an American artist and has been a major figure in American art since the 1920’s. • She is chiefly known for her paintings of rocks, flowers, animal bones and landscapes. • She transformed her subject matter into powerful abstract images by enlarging sections and using strong colours.

Objectives • To choose a picture of a flower, cut out and stick into your book. • Copy this picture in your book observing all detail and shade using your drawing pencil. • Choose another picture, again stick it in your sketch book and colour using colour pencil. Remember to make your colours strong.
