NGAC Role/Operations The NGAC will provide advice and recommendations to the Federal government related to management of national geospatial programs, the development of the NSDI, and the implementation of OMB Circular A-16 and EO 12906. The committee will review and comment upon geospatial policy and management issues and provide a forum to convey views representative of stakeholders in the geospatial community. NGAC will report to FGDC Chair, acting on behalf of FGDC Steering Committee will be sponsored by DOI; Secretary of the Interior appoints NGAC members USGS/FGDC Secretariat to provide management/administrative support (member travel/per diem, meeting costs, etc. ) Funding provided by USGS 3

A biographical sketch, resume, or vita. A list of three references or endorsements. Contact information for the nominee Review Panel n Small interagency group to review nominations and develop consensus recommendations for DOI Office of the Secretary DOI Office of Secretary reviews recommendations, makes membership selections 5

Council Membership – Current Draft Charter language *Excerpt from 2 -6 -07 Draft NGAC Charter (p. 2) “The Committee will be comprised of approximately 20 -25 representatives, who will be selected to generally achieve a balanced representation of the viewpoints of the various stakeholders involved in national geospatial activities and the development of the NSDI. Selection of Committee members will include consideration of geographic balance. The Committee membership will include balanced representation from among, but not limited to, the following stakeholder groups involved in the geospatial community: n n n Federal government State government County government Regional government City/Municipal government Tribal government Private Sector Utilities User Industries Geospatial professional associations Geospatial non-profits Geospatial academic organizations … Representatives from Federal agencies may serve as voting or non-voting members of the Committee. ” 6

Following 15 -day FR notice period, committee meetings may be held. 7
