CONTINGENCY PLAN - PREPAREDNESS • The Agriculture Department will prepare the Contingency plan in case of late onset of monsoon / dry spells during the season • Short duration varieties of crop seeds will be arranged to provide seeds on subsidy • Recommending Cultivation of short duration crops like Blackgram / Greengram / Soybean to facilitate sequence crop with Bengalgram or Coriander or Sunhemp or Fodder Jowar during Rabi • Stocking of quality seeds well in advance for immediate distribution for resowing in affected areas • Creating awareness among the farmers for application of booster doses of fertilizers for recovery of crop • Adoption of soil conserve methods for effective utilization of the available moisture to save the crop in the drought prone areas • Encourage the farmers to have insurance to their crop so that they get relief in the eventuality of calamity 7
