Jet Propulsion Laboratory California Institute of Technology Pasadena, California Processing System Upgrade? • Microwave Integrated Retrieval System - MIRS • Developed at NOAA NESDIS by Fuzhong Weng’s group • MIRS is becoming NOAA’s primary MW retrieval system • NESDIS is committed to modifying MIRS for HAMSR • We are working with Sid Boukabara & colleagues • Provided instrument characteristics & val. data (dropsondes) • Benefits • Stable, well-tuned & well-validated retrieval system • Modified CRTM can be used as obs. operator for assimilations • Status: Nearing readiness • CRTM mods have been made • Tests are under way at NESDIS • Readiness date is still TBD HS 3 Science Team Meeting – Mountain View – May 7 -9, 2013 HAMSR/Lambrigtsen
