Introduction Within Physical Education we study four factors which impact on performance in sport (MESP). These are:
Introduction continued For each factor we will follow the cycle of analysis:
Physical Fitness
Physical Factor We will start by investigating the Physical Factor. The Physical factor is split into two areas: • Physical Fitness • Physical Skill related fitness The first area we will be looking at is Physical Fitness and gathering data on this from home.
Task 1 Data Collection This week you are going to complete the 12 minute Cooper run: You need to run for 12 minutes without stopping so pace yourself. Use the app ‘Strava’ to track your distance. Equipment: phone with ‘Strava’ app downloaded. Timer on phone – 12 minutes. Procedure: Run for 12 minutes outside without stopping. Remember to pace yourself.
Record this weeks scores Write down your distance and send it to Miss Grant: Take a photo or write it in a word document and send it on the Teams page or to my email zoe. grant@castlebrae. edin. sch. uk It is really important you complete the tests each week and send them to me as I will keep a record for when we are back in school.
Task 2 Complete the following question: 1. Describe a test that you used to collect data on CRE (4 marks)? (use the next slide to help with DESCRIBE questions)
Remember the mark indicates you should be making 4 descriptive points on how you did one of the tests. Imagine you are describing how you set up the test to an alien: WHO, WHAT, WHERE and WHEN. The question is worth 4 marks so you must make 4 points that describe the test.
Task 3 • Complete the following question: 1. Pick a sport and EXPLAIN the impact that CRE has on your performance (2 marks). This can be a positive or negative impact, or both. (use the next slide to help with EXPLAIN questions)
Explain Questions • • When answering explain questions, we use the PEE chain: P: Point E: Evidence E: Explanation/expand Sentence starters: • If I have good/bad ability…. • This was useful because… • As a result, I was able to… • For every mark that is available, you should use one PEE chain per mark. Therefore, as this question is worth 2 marks you should use 2 PEE chains in your answer. • Example: If I have good agility in basketball I will be able to change direction quickly. This was useful because I can stay with my opponent putting them under pressure. As a result, allowing me to gain possession (1 mark).
Expectations • Remember to complete all 3 tasks and send them on Teams or to me email: zoe. grant@castlebrae. edin. sch. uk by Thursday 11 th June. • I look forward to seeing your work. Good luck! Miss Grant
