MESP Within Physical Education we study four factors which impact on performance in sport (MESP). These are:

National Normative Data Over the last three weeks we have tested: - Muscular endurance – Sit ups, press ups, and squats. - CRE – 12 minute Cooper run. - Agility – Illinois agility test. You are now going to compare your score to see how you compare nationally. Why we collect data? Now you have scores and compared yourself to national normative data for physical tests. Think about why do we collect data this type of data? Reasons • Identify strengths and weaknesses • Create an appropriate development plan What else? ? ?
Exam Style Question How to answer an explain question…. • When you see the command word ‘Explain’ it means Why? • Answer the following question: Question Explain why it is important to collect data on the physical factor? (4)? Before answering read the example on the next slide!
Example ‘It is important to collect data before I begin a physical development plan because it allows me to identify my strengths and weaknesses within the physical factor. This can lead to me creating an appropriate development plan that uses approaches that are specific to my needs. Another reason why collecting data is important because…. The colour marks highlight 2 marks and how much you need to be writing to gain a mark. Remember this is worth 4 marks!!
