+ Social Work Licensure • Is it ethical to practice without a license? • Social work licensure provides protection for the citizens of Michigan by ensuring qualified and competent practitioners • Licensure was enacted in 2005, changing the regulation of social work from title protection (registration) to the protection of the practice for qualified social workers through a license. • Licensure is extremely important and was a huge milestone for Michigan to achieve. – Michigan was one of the last two to get licensure – Michigan was the only state that did not require an exam to practice
