What is it • Nanotechnology - anything smaller than micro technology ex. Nano powders • Manipulation of matter on a very small scale “nano scale” • A sheet of paper is 100, 000 nanometres thick • MNT or “molecular nanotechnology” responsible for massive changes in our environment, the way we live, and our capabilities

Two Main Approaches • Bottom up • construction of material (based on molecular recognition) • Top down • construction of nano-scale objects from larger materials (without using direct atomic control)
