Teaching Virtual Job Interview Skills to College Students With IDD Using Literacy-Based Behavioral Interventions • Downey, Torres and Kearney, Career Development and Transition to Exceptional Individuals, 2/11/21 • Testing use of literacy-based behavioral interventions (LBBIs) on virtual job interviews with college students with IDD • Pandemic changes interviews from in person formal to virtual • Video conference platform, students answered interview questions from researchers acting as employers. • Customized LBBIs, incorporating students’ input. • Results: LBBIs were effective for teaching and maintaining virtual job interview skills, and across novel employers #n. Fair-Wages for People With Disabilities: Barriers and Facilitators • Friedman, Rizzolo; Journal of Disability Policy Studies, • ID the correlates of fair wages (at least minimum wage) for pwd – what factors facilitate and which hinder pwd access to fair wages • 1500 people interviewed; at the individual-level: • Support needs, guardianship, and residence type all significantly correlate with pwd odds of receiving fair-wages • Ability to experience a number of employment options, decide where to work, produce higher odds of having fair-wages. • Key role service organizations play in facilitating people with disabilities’ access to fair-wages. #n. Disability-Inclusive Apprenticeships in the States • National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) • State and federal actions to enhance disability inclusion in apprenticeships. • Why inclusive apprenticeships can be an effective workforce development tool • Highlights resources for creating inclusive apprenticeship programs. • Fourth in a series in collaboration with the State Exchange on Employment & Disability on the opportunities and challenges stemming from the pandemic and its impact on the employment of people with disabilities. • Other three reports: state and federal policy actions on teleworking, broadband access, workplace safety, and work accommodations. #n.
