History of mystery l The very first mystery novel was published in 1841 by the famous Edgar Allen Pope and was titled The murder in the Rue Morgue (thinkquest). l About six decades later in 1903, The Great Train Robbery became the first mystery movie to ever come out l in 1930 the first radio show based on detectives began to come on air ever week. l In the 1950’s television shows became the new form of mystery and shortly became an American pass time. l Finally, online mystery was established on the internet in 1995 and it is still the newest form of it.
Characteristics § In ever mystery there are characteristics that are present to distinguish why it is a mystery. § It usually begins with a interesting mood or question to a plot that’s intended to keep the reader hooked. § A clue is a typical part of mystery that is used to help a reader put things together and make them feel as if they are a step closer to the conclusion § A red herring can also be included to give a reader misleading information in order to challenge the reader and make it even more interesting with a plot twist § Foreshadowing is also normal in mystery because it creates more of a sense of suspense which is essential for some readers to stay hooked.

It usually involves an officer or detective as the main character and the story is as close to what actually can happen in life as possible The closest current examples in media that are in the sub genre are shows like CSI and Law & Order which have become a normal part of entertainment for a lot of our society. They have the characteristics of a typical crime story so it closely relates to the crime sub genre as well.
Why I chose mystery Well to start, mystery has been a influential on writing genres since it was first discovered. It's my favorite genre because of the interesting characteristics that every mystery has. There's also a countless number of sub genres in mystery to keep you thrilled so it is one of the most popular. Mystery also comes in many different forms like novels or movies so there's options
