IULIU HOSSU (1885 -1970) BISHOP OF GREEK- CATHOLIC DIOCESE CLUJGHERLA He was bishop, political prisoner, cardinal, honorary member (fom 1945) of Romanian Academy

ACTIVITY q q q 1914 – military priest; 1917 - Bishop of the Greek Catholic Diocese of Cluj. Gherla ; 1 st December 1918 – reads the proclamation of the unification of Transylvania with Romania; As a senator in the Parliament of Romanian, the bishop Iuliu Hossu defended the sovereignty and integrity of the country against revisionism. Refusing transition to orthodoxy , bishop Iuliu Hossu was jailed.
