My Teaching Experience

Teaching experience during studying at the university provides the opportunity for student teachers to put into practice what they have learned and know what they should still learn.

o Teaching experience is a compulsory component of all teacher education programmes.

o I’d like to tell you about my first teaching experience. I spent six weeks in a secondary school, observing, planning and teaching lessons, marking work, talking with teachers and working with small groups of pupils.

o I had no experience of classroom teaching before this practice, so I was more than a little worried.

o After the first lesson I realized that everything could appear not so bad.

o As the quarter went by I found teaching more and more easygoing. All I had to do was to go to the class and give lessons.

o Each teacher can recount numerous highs and lows in their teaching career. Personally, I experienced many great moments while teaching.

o On the other hand, I had days where I definitely questioned teaching as my future career.

o I learned a lot about teaching after this practice. In my opinion, teaching is like a performing art.

o This experience changed my imagination of teaching profession. I realized a lot of important thoughts.

o Students are people who have feelings and who don't want to feel cornered.

o The problem I faced was that I spent so much time thinking about teaching I didn’t do much thinking about the learning and as a result I passed my practice with good but not great feedback

o I have learnt to adopt a positive attitude towards all my students.

o I have left my first teaching practice with experience, knowledge, inspiration and determination to do better. I hope I made at least a small contribution to the students’ learning.
