My Proposal

A girl is madly in love in a long-distance relationship until it falls apart…she is then heartbroken, unaware of the future event that will change her life.

§ A girl becomes good friends with a boy through friends, and constantly speaks over social media all day every day, until it develops further into facetime calling and getting to know one another more personally. This then evolves further into love… however one thing still stands in the way… he lives in America and she lives in England. The idea arises of long distance, as despite their trials of moving on to other people, nothing works, therefore they give it ago. A year passes and they still haven’t met, but their love is still strong as ever and the day they’re finally going to meet is near, after 3 months of planning, which is in 2 days. It was set that she meets him at the airport… § But then devastation crushes the girl. This is because the guy has suddenly had an urgent work meeting that he cannot miss and he cannot travel to England to unite with the girl. As the girl has waited so long to meet him and the anger of cancelling the trip and finally meeting the one she loves all due to work, she breaks it off with him and says it isn’t going to work. He is distraught, due to the fact the girl is unaware the big meeting with work that he absolutely has to go to is about him resigning as he is moving around the corner to her in less than a week. § He decides to leave it to surprise and the both of them endure an intense, hurtful week of non-speaking… until he appears on her doorstop with roses. She is absolutely overcome with mixed emotions, which are mostly shock, however is still madly in love with him and the two get back together. It then shows how they are together still when they are old and grey, showing how they were destined to be together, and that week was the worst week of their lives. Then everyone lives happily ever after. The end.

§ I imagine my film being very modern in terms of the technology and the visual aspect of it. § The film The Notebook conveys a relationship where they end up moving to different locations which is fairly similar to mine, however, the characters already live far away from one another and there is no moving involved. § Furthermore, the equilibriums in both films are the same, therefore the relationship between the two people is the same. § My film will contain modern language, technology and filming. § I can see my film being a big success with people of the younger generation due to the amount of detail portrayed within it, such as the relationship, the scenery, and the situations they’re in.

§ My target audience will be people aged 15+ because the film needs to be fully understood due to the emotions within the couple and the other people involved in it too and their views and opinions. § I feel like people 15+ will understand appreciate the film more as it will be more relatable for them due to the things the couple go through and the emotions they feel. § The film is aimed at both male and female as you cannot put a gender on love, or what kind of relationship a person is in, and I believe that both boys and girls enjoy watching romance films, despite the outcome of the film probably being watched more by girls.

§ The genre of my film is Romance, and I would like to distribute it on Netflix, as I think people of the younger generation enjoy watching romances and rom-coms, I know this, as I am in the age range I would like the film to appeal to and I watch many of these types of films on Netflix.

§ My characters live in two separate countries, England America, therefore I will need to do research on both the countries and the differences and similarities between them. § The boy also works in an office business job in America so I need to research the offices and jobs in America that could be similar to the job he does in the film. § She goes to university in England so I’d need to research unis in the UK and choose one to star in the film and what it’s like. § The weather and the clothing would also need to be researched as the clothing they wear would depend on the weather. § I would also need to research if the film would fit in with the other films on Netflix and research what people 15+ like at the moment so I know they’re interests to possibly include it in the film.
