My project proposal Frame by Frame Animated Fight
My project proposal: Frame by Frame Animated Fight Scene BY JACK HILDER
Rational I am interested in exploring in this project: Frame by frame animation Character movement Pose, posture and gestures of characters The main focus of this project is animating characters and communicating their emotions to the audience. The reason why I have chosen to explore frame by frame animation is because I found that frame by frame is a lot more fluid in movement than vector based, this is something I prefer in animation and can use to its fullest when communicating emotions to the audience. The purpose of project is to gain experience in animation before I begin my animation course in university, that way I am not clueless when I start.
Project concept The concept of the project is to create a segment of shots of a very short fight scene between two characters using frame by frame animation. I want to research: What elements make a fight scene intense and interesting Experiment with techniques used to create fast paced animation such as smearing, blurring and shape morphing Experiment with creating impact in animation The outcome of this project would be a short animation on You. Tube of a fight scene and I would have work showing the journey I took.
Influence One of my influences is Mamoru Hosoda, a film and animator director. This is because of his most recent film, The Boy and The Beast which contained a very interesting fight scene, that clearly showed the characters emotions and personalities. Another reason is because of how they created impact.
Target audience The target audience would be aimed at people who are interested and enjoy the thriller genre and fight scenes. My target audience age would be roughly aimed around 15 to 25 year olds, this is because the animation would contain violence and most likely blood which would make it inappropriate to younger audiences.
Evaluation I will evaluate my final outcome by first reviewing the work and research I have documented by week, looking at key points such as the quality of the work, the quantity and the time it took to achieve. I will then evaluate the final product and reflect on the work I have reviewed. I will also hold a weekly focus group to discuss the effectiveness of my techniques.
