MY MAGAZINE IDEAS By Lily Jackson
FRONT COVERS There are definitely some amazing eye catching ideas I’d love to use from the cover of this ID magazine, such as the crazy colour scheme the scheme that they have going on works really well with the fact they do not have much written information and I think it works really well and as you can see they’ve used a bold font so you can see the title. I had chosen this magazine to get inspiration off because the target audience are the same age range that I want my target audience. I think that I will definitely take in the techniques they’ve used. On my magazine I will definitely put a barcode on my front cover and put the issue number and date on it as well just on the bottom away from the image itself because I find that it slightly ruins the image. This is the second magazine cover I chose to get inspiration off because I feel as if it gives off this artistic and colourful feel which I personally think it make it look interesting. I love the way both these magazine covers do not give off too much information making their target audience want to buy the magazine and read into it. The only thing I do not like is the font that they’ve used to write show girl in because I believe it doesn’t make it very clear. I noticed that this magazine doesn’t have the date, the issue number and barcode and that makes me think they must have put it one the back because they have too much going on the front so they’ve kept it quite basic still by doing that but when it comes to my magazine I think it looks more professional on the front. I like the way the image they’ve used is looks like its been painted and as you can see they’ve gone along with that scheme with the

CONTENT PAGES These are a couple of magazines that I had got online to get inspiration as I like the techniques and skills they’ve used such as with the top image they have kept it quite plain and basic making their target audience want to read further into detail I think this will definitely be a technique I will use for my magazine. In the bottom image I like the colours they have got coming up the side of the page making it look exciting and colourful which is a feature I love and would like to use in my magazine the only thing that puts me off about this contents page the font and writing I find quite boring it isn’t particularly nice where they’ve placed the writing but it is good where they’ve left a lot of plain space which I’m planning to do for my magazine. On the top image I like how they have just got one image going across the page I like that because it makes the magazine look quite artistic and funky especially with the font this magazine has chosen to use. In the top magazine the font definitely doesn’t get lost into the image where they have highlighted I think that could be something I play around with and try out myself it also adds to the artistic feel. On the bottom contents page I like the way they have images possibly that

DOUBLE PAGE SPREADS I had chosen these double page spreads because I loved the layout of them both the layout and the fact they had kept it very basic. The Dazed and confused double page spread I found even more intriguing than what I did any other due to the layout and image of the magazine which made me want to do something similar I believe because of that double page spread it had inspired me to want to do something similar. The ID magazine used a fantastic layout and it was really good that they made half of it just empty with a image because of the amount of writing the had that they needed plain space to level it out and that is something I will definitely consider for my magazine. Another that I noticed that worked well on the ID magazine double page spread was the bold font to let the audience know what they were reading clearly because sometimes with that much writing it can distract the reader. Its nice that dazed and confused? Used black and white then had this one colour that really stood out giving it a little bit of diversity on the page I would used this for my magazine but I am trying to create quite a lively upbeat vibe as I will discussing festivals and other music events so I can not use anything really plain.

COLOUR SCHEME AND ANY EXTRAS For my magazine I would like to keep it really upbeat and exciting due to the fact it’s a music events magazine including festivals whenever you are at these sort of events you never see anyone wearing dull colours they are always bright and happy colours. At the moment I haven’t chosen any specific colours as I want to use as many different ones as possible. For my magazine extras I will not be sticking in any work searches or anything as the age group I have chosen will not be interested in that sort of stuff so instead I’ve listed different music events letting you know the Information needed to go to them such as dates, times, where and how much I chose to do this as I found it was relevant for my target audience.

FONTS Lifestyle For my font I like anything really bold so it stands out due to the fact like I discussed I will be having a lot going on in my magazine such as it will be really colourful and some images may take over so I have to be really careful in what fonts I use. Some of the fonts I would like to use aren’t on particular available on this software such as this.
MIND MAP OF WHAT I WANT MY MAGAZINE TO LOOK LIKE? Double page spreads Front cover For my front cover I would like to use a image that will add to the effect of my magazine and works well with the image I’m trying to give off which is a crazy colour soft of theme. My front cover will be full of colour but very basic. There won’t be too much writing on the cover where there will be a lot going on in the background and I found like to use a bold font for the title. Contents page On my contents page I would like to have a lot of plain space as I would like to keep it very simple due to the fact a image I will be using in the background will take a lot of attention of the writing yet again I’m going to use quite an obvious font the will be multi coloured splattered around the page. My magazin e My double page spreads will either be quite basic or be the complete opposite I will try to have the exciting pages to the dull to go after one another as I don’t want to magazine to come across as too much. On my double page spreads I want to be able to leave quite a lot of plain space. Back cover On the back page I will probably put a line-up to either a festival or event just due to the fact it will be what my target audience is looking for. If this does not work out I will probably find a word search to do with events instead.
