The Main Concern ➢ Mumbai produces 9500+ tons Navi Mumbai & Thane produces abt 650 tons of mixed waste daily. Ø All 6/7 landfills are totally overflowing.

The Main Concern ➢ Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane has population close to 1. 75 Cr. ➢ All 4 rivers 1. Dahisar river 2. Mithi river 3. Oshiwara river 4. Poisar river are choked & converted to na. IIahs ➢Total Coastline (about 18 beaches) is dirty

The Main Concern ➢ Mumbaikars spend 1400 Crores on Transport of waste. Ø As per WHO Mumbai is 5 th most polluted Megacity of the world.

Who should do? We & not Municipal Corporation / Govt. Why to do? Its we, who generate the waste. Its our money / tax which MCGM uses. Its we who are ultimately affected. It now, then when ? ? ?

One time activity Ø Provide 3 color Bins. Ø Create Core team. Ø Identify required Composting process Ø After a small training/ guidance, start Composting. Few minutes required daily to manage Composting

Members: v Put segregated waste in 3 Dustbins. v Use compost for Kitchen Gardening. Housekeeping Staff/ Sweeper/ Outsourced Agency: v Send only Rejected waste to Landfills via Municipality v Take care of Composting activities. v Use the compost for Society garden.
