ORIGINS OF THE SHOW • Arthur started off as a book, and creator Marc Brown came up with the idea when his son asked for a story about a ''Weird Animal'', and because he was thinking alphabetically the first thing that came to mind was an aardvark. • When Marc Brown was approached by PBS to turn it into a TVShow. What swayed his decision was the idea of using a powerful medium like Television to make kids more interested in reading.

TOPICS AND EDUCATION • The show often deals with difficult issues kids and families have to deal with including Asthma, Dyslexia, Cancer, Diabetes and Asperger's Syndrome. • The episode "Go Fly A Kite" received particular praise from the media and the Aspergers Community for perfectly encapsulating the disorder in the most concise way possible, describing it as being an alien landing on earth to find everything and everyone the same as you, but no matter how much you try you'll always feel different.
