A digital footprint is what you leave behind on the internet. When you post something online or even if you search something up on the internet, the data is recorded to create you own digital foot print. WHAT IS A DIGITAL FOOTPRINT

EFFECTING YOUR FUTURE Your digital foot print can easily effect your future employments or enrollments ether in a good way or a bad. When applying for a school or a job you might fit all of the requirements needed to get in but if the school or job finds some bad or inappropriate history it could prevent your acceptance. On the other hand you can leave a good impression on the internet for future employers to see.

ACTIVE An active digital footprint is When data is collected when user is aware Ex. Posting a picture on Instagram -searching a word in the google search bar -liking a post on face book etc. .

PASSIVE A passive digital footprint is When data is collected on the internet without the user knowing. For example a friend might tag you in a picture, your information has just started to spread around without you doing anything to make it happen.

Before you post something on the internet you need to think about the consequences if you go through with the action. You need to think to yourself… Is it worth shearing this information about you and if it isn’t don’t press post. KEEPING YOUR FOOTPRINT APPROPRIATE AND SAFE
