MY DEPOSIT AND MOBILE REMOTE DEPOSIT CAPTURE DIFFERENCES
MY DEPOSIT AND MOBILE REMOTE DEPOSIT CAPTURE: DIFFERENCES IN EZADMIN
The Basics Who is this Quick Reference Guide for? • If your financial institution offers My Deposit to your consumers today, and adds the Mobile channel, this document is for you, as it details the changes you’ll see in EZAdmin. The Good News: • EZAdmin tasks for Mobile Remote Deposit are largely the same as the tasks for My Deposit. There a few important exceptions, which we’ll cover in this document. Summary of changes: • A new institution record in EZAdmin is dedicated to the Mobile channel. • Proofing on the Check 21 Express screen is shared between My Deposit and Mobile. • The financial institution must visit each institution separately for the other EZAdmin tasks, such as downloading the Image Cash Letter, balancing, viewing transaction logs, creating white and black lists, and other screens.
Change #1: Institution List • Based on permissions, you will see a new institution in the dropdown (screenshot for illustrative purposes; your site will show different phrasing for the institution). • In addition to the existing “FI Name – My Deposit”, you will now see “FI Name – Mobile” in the institution list.
Change #2: Proofing checks via Check 21 Express • When you add Mobile, there will be a new row on the Check 21 Express screen dedicated to deposits scanned from a mobile device. • My Deposit and Mobile will appear as separate rows in this table. You will proof transactions separately for each channel, but all proofing across institutions is performed here. • Likewise, returned items for Mobile show in a separate row from returned items for My Deposit (not seen here).
Change #3: Risk Factors unique to Mobile • This table lists 5 risk factors, applicable to Mobile only, that would cause a check to be rejected. • These risk factors tend to be the most common reject reasons for the Mobile channel (approximately 20% of deposits). • The mobile device lists only the reject reasons, whereas with My Deposit, the consumer sees a list of all risk factors. EZAdmin Description the Consumer Sees Severity Front or back image cannot be processed Ensure your check is completely flat, on a dark surface and in a well-lit area. Hold the camera directly over the check and make sure all four corners of the check are visible within the camera frame. Reject Back looks like front Back image appears to be check front. Please upload check back image. Reject Folded or torn corners Corners of check may be folded or torn. Reject Bad MICR The account numbers at the bottom of the check cannot be recognized. Reject Image out of focus The check image may be out of focus. Reject
Change #4: Managing screens besides Check 21 Express • The only screen where data is aggregated from both My Deposit and Mobile is Check 21 Express. • When going to Check 21 Files, Branch Balancing, Transaction Logs, and any screen other than Check 21 Express, be sure to select the desired institution first. Other than that, all EZAdmin tasks are done the same for Mobile as you do today for My Deposit. • Deposits scanned via a mobile device go into separate Image Cash Letter (aka Check 21 File) from My Deposit transactions. • My Deposit and Mobile can have separate white and black lists. To use the same lists, though, you must upload the list under each institution.
