BACKGROUND OF THE WDD • • • Development, implementation and monitoring Women and Gender Policies, Programmes and Legislations Seeking funds for Women/Gender programmes Development and maintaining a data base for Women Providing briefs, reports on Women/Gender - CEDAW, Cabinet Hosting national events such as International Women’s Day, White Ribbon Day and 16 Days of Activism Providing technical support to Women Organisations and stakeholders. Training, Seeking financial support, etc Coordinating body for Gender and Eliminating Sexual and Gender Based Violence programmes in Kiribati Raising awareness on Women and Gender issues through workshops, IEC material, radio, community visits and consultations, road shows Organise research/surveys on women/gender issues

REFORM PROGRAMMES 2) GENDER MAINSTREAMING – Work with various Ministries to mainstream gender in their plans, programmes, budgets Require- TA 3) Eliminating Sexual and Gender Based Violence (ESGBV) – Focusing more on primary prevention and supporting survivors. 4) Targeting root causes of social problems such as poverty, domestic violence. Survey to be done to identify areas of intervention
