History of the Musical film � Late 1920’s Hollywood was filled with musicals, often displayed with larger theatrical displays filled with stage music � During the 1940’s musicals were at peak popularity as war lead to flocks of people going for a glamourized diversion � In 1945, six out of the ten box-office hits were musicals � As television was popularized in the 1950’s original musicals failed to gain backing leading to cinematic adaptions of old Broadway musicals � Within the 21 st century welcomed musical shows and films, like 2014’s Annie remake and the Glee TV show � In more recent years musicals have often been displayed through biopic dramas about musicians. E. G Queen in Bohemian Rhapsody or Elton John in Rocketman
