Wagga, You’re Calling Me Back There’s a whisper on the breeze that seems to softly speak to me And it brings the scent of wattle through the air Old half forgotten visions of a township I can see And in fancy I imagine I am there Oh Wagga my hometown You’re calling me back I cannot resist you I’m taking the track That winds by old Bidgee ‘neath skies azure blue Queen of the South I am yearning for you Always I miss you I wished I had stayed By your sandy beaches and willow trees shade Where romance still lingers with me from the past Wagga fair city I’m homing at last Tho’ my wanderings sometimes take me from beneath the Southern Cross To many a place where gumtrees never grow Fond mem’ries journey with me And I count the time a loss Till I’m starting for that spot I used to know
