Museums at Home: How Artsteps Helps Visitors Connect with Cultural Institutions Intro By L. Diana Chicas This project centered around creating a 3 D model of an exhibit I would want to do in the future. The main focus of the exhibit was on the different types of anti-Vietnam War protesters. The groups that were chosen were veterans, musicians, and members of the religious community. The Program Future Use Museums are starting to open up more to the use of VR and 3 D technology because it makes it easier to bring more attention to an exhibit. Virtual tours have also allowed users to feel like they are actually in the museum. While no experience can re-place the physical aspect of being in a museum, this is a good alternative. The program that was used to create this 3 D model is called Artsteps. This web-based programs allows museums and students to create immersive learning environments. The program also allows users to upload their own 3 D objects and structures. Along with this users have the option of uploading sounds and videos that can help the vision impaired. Conclusion This project was difficult to complete because it required some level of tech knowledge but practice makes it easier. It is worth investing time in this program especially when museums have been closed for an extended period of time.
