Musculo Skeletal System system of bones and muscles
Musculo. Skeletal System system of bones and muscles Protects organs Supports the body Makes movement possible
Skeletal system Made of 3 types of tissues: bones, ligaments and cartilage Offers structure and support for the body Store some nutrients for the body Protects some organs and the brain
206 bones in the body Some bugs have exoskeletons
Muscular System Three types of muscles: smooth, cardiac and skeletal Muscle consists of muscles fibers arranged in bundles Muscles are attached to bones by tendons Special proteins cause the muscle to contract when signaled by nerve cells
Without muscles, we wouldn't be able to move The muscle that stretches the farthest in the human body is the sartorius. The sartorius is in the leg

Problems Osteoporosis is a disease which cause bone tissue loss. This can lead to fractures. This is a more common problem among older women. Severe impacts can fracture bones. Extreme movements can tear ligaments, tendons and muscle tissue.
Skeletal System in Other Organisms Some invertebrates like insects or arthropods have their skeletal system on the outside. These are called exoskeletons. Muscles attached to the inside of the exoskeleton allow the animal to walk, fly, etc. The main purpose of an exoskeleton is to protect the animals internal organs, just like our skeleton protects our organs.
Summary The Musculo- Skeletal system provides structure and support for our body. There are 3 types of connective tissue: bones, ligaments and cartilage. Muscles consist of muscle fibres arraged in bundles. Loss of bone tissue due to osteoporosis make bones more susceptible to fractures Many invertebrates have exoskeleletons.
