FACT: Facts of the Muscular System Skeletal muscles are attached to bones and allow your skeleton to move. Skeletal muscles are VOLUNTARY muscles which means you control them. FACT: Smooth muscle, in your stomach, and cardiac muscle in your heart, are INVOLUNTARY muscles which means you cannot control it – it works without you thinking about it! Fact: Almost half your body’s weight is muscles! – 640 of them! The largest muscles are the ones you sit on – gluteus maximus muscles in the buttocks!
