Multi-Agency Partnership CTLP Recommendations Briefing
Hundred Handers § First seen in May 2018 Hundred-Handers is an Identitarian group which is a group / movement that adopts a blend of ‘Extreme’ & ‘Far Right’ ideology based on an Ethno-cultural Identity narrative. Identitarian stake extreme ideas & present them in a way that sounds moderate. § They carry out low level activism anonymously. Their propaganda has the potential to fuel community tensions and drive people towards more overt activism like Generation Identity.
What’s In a Name? § Hundred Handers is taken from the Hecatoncheires – giant creatures in Greek mythology. Their name means “hundredhanded ones”. § Like other Identitarian groups they’ve targeted the educated youth demographic, who are largely tech savvy. Operating online they encourage members to get their message out through stickering.
How Does It Work? § The group is based on anonymity and the structure boasts protection from infiltration. Identities are not shared therefore the ‘Hands’ do not meet and if their activism is compromised the group can continue. § The ‘Head’ runs the group and the ‘Hands’ carry out the activism facelessly on behalf of the organisation. The ‘Hands’ are working for the common goal of ‘Identitarian Metapolitical advancement. ’
How Does It Work? § Each month the ‘Head’ sends an e-mail to the ‘Hands’ containing a library of stickers which they are able to print if they wish to and leave in public. § Hundred Handers do have a small social media presence with profiles being seen on Twitter, Instagram and Gab.
