DIETARY DIVERSITY SCORES � � � Dietary diversity (DD) scores is a proxy of nutritional quality of the diet. The DD scores consists of a simple count of the number of food groups consumed by an individual or a household over a given period of time. The assumption is that the higher the score, the better the quality of the diet. Assessing DD is useful to evaluate the impact of a wide range of programmes on dietary quality. Examples are livelihoods and crop diversification, nutrition education, school and homestead gardens.
