Apprenticeship Training Scheme The Apprenticeship Act, 1961 was enacted to fully utilise the industrial facilities in order to impart practical training and develop work-ready workforce. Industry shall engage apprentices in a band of 2. 5 % to 10 % of total manpower strength (including contractual staff) Reimbursement by Go. I to establishment those who engages apprentices: Ø In case of Trade Apprentices Under National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme(NAPS) @ 25 % of prescribed stipend paid (max. Rs. 1500 per month) Ø In case of Graduate/ Technician Apprentices Under National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) @ 50 % of prescribed stipend paid Establishment with Man Power less than 40 Including contractual & outsourced Establishment with Man power more than 40 Obligatory (2. 5% to 10 %) Mandatory (2. 5% - 10%) 2

Key Features - ATS Stipend Paid By Industry Training Courses 1 2 3 Stipend Paid by Industry • Trade Apprentices – 70, 80 & 90 % of min. wage of semi-skilled workers in 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd year respectively • Graduate Apprentices – Rs. 4984 per month • Technician Apprentices – Rs. 3542 per month • Reimbursement to Employers by Go. I • Under NAPS @ 25 % of prescribed stipend paid (max. Rs. 1500 per month) • Under NATS @ 50 % of prescribed stipend paid Training • Minimum age – 14 yrs. • Duration – 3 to 24 months • Basic Training – 20 to 25 % of total duration • On Job Training – 75 to 80 % of duration • Basic training is not required for graduate & technical apprentices • Assessment & Certification – All India Trade Tests (AITT) Courses • 262 Course – Trade Apprentices • 163 Courses – Graduate & Technician 137 Courses – Technician (Vocational) 76 Courses - Optional Trades (Designed by Employers & PMKVY/MES-SDI 5
