MUGS FOR THE HANDICAPPED “This product will revolutionize how cripples consume coffee for the next millennia”-Benjamin Fenyves Advisor: Junfeng Ma Benjamin Fenyves, Bailey Jones, Brenna Doyle, Paige Mittl 10/8/2014
Problem/Mission Statement Many Americans have lost their fingers through accidents or war and now have trouble holding coffee mugs
Real Problems Gripping a coffee mug Multitasking whilst drinking coffee
What Can We Do? Mugs for the Handicapped can enable any handicapped individual to grip a mug with one hand as long as they have one finger Our new innovative design will free up the other hand, making disabled people’s lives easier and more efficient

Our Design Prototype The design our team of engineers has developed is a mug with a hole for a finger curved allowing for grip with just one finger Even people without disabilities can use them, would still be marketable to all consumers
Issues and Resolutions PROBLEMS • Different size fingers and fingers missing • Spinning out of hand • Hot coffee burning hand or finger SOLUTIONS • Custom S, M, L hole sizes as well as custom to which finger utilized • If there is much trouble with spinning, lip can be added to rim of mug • Mug is made of UHTC
UHTC UHTC stands for Ultra High Temperature Ceramic These ceramics are used by NASA to resist the heat of their engines Can resist temperatures of up to 2000 degrees Celsius
Prototype Our engineers have put together a clay prototype that you can see here representing what the final product will look like Finished product will be lighter and more aesthetic
Conclusion There were many difficulties in making this design such as choosing between many great ideas This design could really make in impact on peoples lives to help them live more comfortably
