TF 160 in a nutshell 3 GPP Task Force 160 setup in June 2000. Supporting & under responsibility of 3 GPP RAN WG 5 (RAN 5): Mobile Terminal Conformance Testing. Translates the 3 GPP conformance test cases from prose (test specification) into a reference implementation. Implementation done using TTCN-2 for 3 G (up to Release 9), Implementation done using TTCN-3 for 3 G (from Release 10) and 4 G. Develops and maintains a set of 25 TTCN-2 & 20 TTCN-3 test suites (over 4000 test cases). Latest news: 5 G project: started mid-2017, ramping up rapidly, 5 G test cases implemented in TTCN-3, first 5 G test cases executed on test platforms and passing against real 5 G devices, expected to be a long-term project. © ETSI 2019 2

TF 160 usage of MTS ‘outputs’ TTCN-3 Standard: Used formally by TF 160 since 2008. Current usage of standardized mappings for language imports: ASN. 1, XML. TTCN-3 Tool Vendors: Strong support, currently 3 GPP TTCN-3 test suites analysed by TF 160 against 5 different TTCN-3 tools. Return on experience: TTCN-3 standard (and tools) very stable. Occasional Change Requests raised. Main area where issues are currently found: XML mapping & handling by tools. © ETSI 2019 3
