Preservativo • O preservativo evita que o esperma atinja a vagina. Alguns preservativos são cobertos por uma substância espermaticida, que ajuda a inativar os espermatozoides • Camisinha masculina: látex • Camisinha feminina: poliuretano
Preservativo • Vantagens: Protege contra as Doenças Sexualmente Transmissíveis (DST); É praticamente o único método contraceptivo amplamente disponível para os homens; o Não requer supervisão médica. o o • Desvantagens: o o Sua eficácia depende de como é utilizado; Pode se romper; Pode provocar irritações pelo atrito durante o coito; Diminuição da sensibilidade.
Diafragma • É um anel flexível envolvido por uma borracha fina, que impede a entrada dos espermatozoides no útero • Para começar a utilizar o diafragma como método contraceptivo, a mulher deve visitar o médico ginecologista para saber o tamanho que melhor se adapta a vagina • A mulher deve colocá-lo dentro da vagina cerca de 15 a 30 minutos antes da relação, e retirá-lo 12 horas após o ato sexual • Esse método não pode ser utilizado durante o período do fluxo menstrual • Pode ser utilizado por até 3 anos
Diafragma • Vantagens: o o o Pode ser colocado várias horas antes do ato sexual; Proporciona alguma proteção contra o câncer do colo uterino; Pode ser usado no período pós-parto. • Desvantagens: o Requer grande envolvimento e dedicação da usuária, especialmente em relação às condições de higiene; o Requer também treinamento específico da usuária, para que seja utilizado corretamente; o Não protege contra a AIDS e nem todas as DSTs.
Capuz Cervical • “Copo” de borracha pla stica ou latex, macio e profundo que cobre o cervix (colo do útero) • E fornecido em diferentes tamanhos • Bloqueia a entrada do espermatozo ide no útero • E usado juntamente com espermicida para aumentar a efica cia.
Esponja • Esponja de poliuretano impregnada com espermicida nonoxynol-9. Deve ser colocada na profundidade da vagina para que cubra completamente o colo do útero. • O índice de eficácia é de 85%. Não é necessária prescrição médica. • Não é fabricada no Brasil (TODAY ® sponge).
Esponja • Vantagens: o o Proteção duradoura de até 24 horas; Não requer tempo de espera para o início do efeito contraceptivo, depois da colocação; É fácil de usar; Não requer a associação de outros agentes espermicidas. • Desvantagens: o o Requer algum treinamento da usuária para correta utilização; Pode provocar lesões vaginais se não permanecer no local adequado; Se for deixado por longo tempo, pode causar odores desagradáveis; Não protege contra a AIDS e as Doenças Sexualmente Transmissíveis (DST).
Espermicidas • São produtos que combinam uma substância química espermicida com uma base de gel, creme, óvulos, espumas ou comprimidos vaginais que se dissolvem na vagina para inativar os espermatozoides. • O índice de eficácia chega a 63%. Não é necessária a prescrição médica, mas requer esclarecimentos médicos mínimos.
Espermicidas • Vantagens o o o Fácil de usar; Úteis no caso de relações sexuais pouco frequentes; Aumentam a eficácia de outros métodos de barreira (por exemplo, quando usado junto com preservativos). • Desvantagens o o o A aplicação pode ser incômoda; O efeito contraceptivo é de curta duração; Baixo índice de eficácia; Podem provocar irritações genitais; Não protegem contra a AIDS e as Doenças Sexualmente Transmissíveis (DST).
