MTF – Manufacturing and Test Folder Why using a link from MTF to a external DB? • MTF is a central repository: it is not meant to replace existing databases • MTF is not intended to hold a big amount of properties for one equipment • Production DB’s existed before MTF was in production S. MTF – Manufacturing and Test Folder When a external link is recommended? • A well designed Oracle database that contains data about your equipment already exists and/or • There are many values to store about each equipment (measurements, test results, geometrical data…) S. MTF – Manufacturing and Test Folder Rules and steps to follow • Only for Oracle databases at Cern • You respect the LHC Naming Conventions: - Equipment IDs follow the conventions (19 characters…) - Equipment ID is a column in your DB (preferably as primary or unique key) • You give MTF grants to read your tables or views • Contact MTF team that will define your external link • Create your equipment in MTF Data in your DB is now accessible from MTF!
