Ms. Morrison’s Procedures & Expected Behaviors WELCOME TO PLANE GEOMETRY

Plane Geometry §Integrated Math 9 will build upon the concepts of Algebra Concepts. This course is paced to allow students to obtain a deeper understanding of the concepts of Algebra for the students needing remediation. This course stresses the basic algebra skills and problem solving techniques. Topics include: integers, exponents, formulas, properties of real numbers, functions, statistics and solving and graphing linear equations and inequalities.

Grading §Homework/Class work – 25% §Quizzes/PDN’s – 25% §Tests/Projects/Classroom Conduct – 25% §Midterm/Final – 25%

Classwork/Homework §There will be a considerable amount of homework and class work assigned through the semester. §Checked daily §Graded on completeness on a scale of 0 to 4 §Students must show work to receive full credit. Just answers is not complete.

Make Up Work §If absent, students are responsible to obtain the notes and assignments missed during the absence. §Students will have 3 days to make up missed work due to an absence. §Make up work can be found in your class’s make up folder. §Missed homework due to failure to complete, may be made up for half credit. Must be handed in within one day from the assignment date. §Incomplete classwork may not be made due to failure to complete.

Quizzes §Quizzes will be announced before hand. §Students are expected to review all materials given for quizzes. §Reviews will not be given for quizzes. §If students are absent, they will make up the quiz on the day they return.

PDN’s §PDN’s are given daily unless a test or quiz is given. §Students are to complete the PDN when they enter the classroom. §PDN’s are to completed in the assigned notebook. This notebook should not leave the classroom. §PDN’s will be checked weekly for a quiz grade. §To receive full credit, students must copy the question and show all necessary work to complete the problem.

Tests §Tests will be announced at least 3 days in advanced. §Students will be given a review sheet to complete. §If absent the day of the review, students will take the test the next day after their return. §If absent the day of the test, students will take the test the day they return to class.

Class Conduct §Students will each receive a class -1 point for being late conduct grade; this is monitor students behavior in the classroom. -1 point for being unprepared -5 points for sleeping in class §Each student will begin each quarter with a 100% as a class -5 points for disrupting class conduct grade. -5 points for not handing in cell §This grade will count as a test grade phone for each quarter. §Students will lose points for inappropriate behaviors in the classroom.

Projects §Students may be assigned projects throughout the semester. §Projects will count as a test grade. §Projects may be assigned to be completed outside of school. §Projects can be both individual or group. §Students will be provided with directions and rubrics to complete the project. §Students must hand in project with all requirements by the due day to receive full credit; failure to do so will result in loss of points.

Midterm/Final §Students will take both a midterm and final on the scheduled date §The midterm will cover the material covered in the first half of the semester. §The final will cover the material covered in the second half of the semester. §Students will receive a review sheet for both of these assessments.

Extra Credit §Extra Credit will be given at the teachers discretion.

Rules 1. Arrive on time and prepared for class with book, pencil, and necessary materials. 2. Respect yourself and others. Do not use vulgar or offensive language toward anyone. 3. Cellphones must be placed in the assigned pocket daily. No earbuds. 4. Be attentive and respectful during notes and when others are speaking. 5. Begin the day by quietly entering the classroom, reporting to your assigned seat and beginning the PDN.

Rules Cellphones §Students will placed their cellphone in their assigned pocket. §Students will not be given warnings about cell phone use in the classroom; cellphones will be immediately confiscated and taken to their grade level office if seen during class. §Students will also lose 5 points from their class conduct grade.

Procedures Classroom Materials §Students will be assigned a number that will correspond to their textbook, calculator, and cell phone pocket. §Students are to report any material missing or damage immediately. §Students are responsible for materials in class and will be held accountable for damage or loss.

Procedures Lavatory Use/Leaving Classroom §Students are asked to use the lavatory/leave the classroom at the beginning of class or during time given to begin assignments. §Students will not be permitted to leave during instruction unless it is an actual emergency. §To leave the classroom, students must have a pass. §Bathroom privileges will be revoked if abused.

Procedures End of Class §Students are dismissed by the teacher not the bell. §Students are to remain in seat until dismissed. §Students are not to line up at the door. §Students are asked to make sure calculators are returned and area around assigned seat is clean.
