A Bit About Me! • Graduated Kentucky Wesleyan College magna cum lade in 2017 with a degree in Middle School Education (English and mathematics) • First year of teaching here at Ohio County Middle School • Faculty advisor of book club and co-advisor for academic team. • I love to read- so much that my best friend is a librarian! • Proud pet parent of a dog, Juno and crazy cat Storm

What should you expect from this class? • ELA stands for English & Language Arts: reading, writing and grammar. Students will learn to be better readers, better writers, and more proficient users of English language. • Expect to read- We complete several book reports and projects, both independent and in groups. • Expect to write- We will explore several types of writing in different modes. • Expect to collaborate- Group work is a key component to this class! • Expect to learn- If you learn nothing new in this class, neither you or I have done our jobs.

Rules for Success 1. Respect yourself and others. 2. Come prepared to class: bring all materials and an open mind. 3. Use your in-class time wisely. 4. Stay seated during instruction- if you need something, raise your hand! 5. Keep electronic devices off and put away during class.
