My educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Illinois State University, a Master's degree in Educational Administration also from Illinois State University, a Master's degree in Multicultural Special Education from Governor's State University and my I love my job because I get to work with an amazing group of people, parents and children. My passion and goal is to make my students become the best citizens that they can be for the community and the world.

Homework Not all students in this program are able to complete paper and pencil assignments. For those reasons, not every child will receive homework. The following homework ideas to complete with your student each night are as follows: -Complete chores such as setting the table, taking the garbage to the trash can, wiping the tables after eating, putting away silverware, putting folded clothing away, folding socks, cleaning up their toys, lining up shoes, or putting out clothes to wear in the morning. *All students are capable of doing chores for homework. Please contact me if you need ideas of ways you can adapt things at home for you student to be successful and independent.
Subjects Reading will be done everyday. Depending on the level of learning, different skills will be taught through reading and different skills will be utilized. Spelling will be taught for the chiren that are at that level of learning. It will be used to help the children with sounds and with rhyning of words. Writing We will proactice writing every day. Depending on the skill level, some chidlren will need hand over hand, and others will be tracing shapes, while others will be writing woreds. . Math We count in math every day. Levels are differentiated due to the various levels of academics for each child. Some children are working on money and telling time. Science Social Studies We will do a science experiment every week. We will make a hypothesis, talk about how to conduct experiments, and talk about the results. Social Studies is taught through News 2 U. We will read a current story and discuss the topic every week. In addition, customs and holidays will be discussed.

Social Studies Website NEWS 2 U News-2 -You has been connecting students to the world through current events for over 15 years. With News 2 -You, students learn about current events through symbol-supported articles, activities, games and worksheets. All of these instructional materials reinforce the topic of each weekly newspaper. Parents can also practice skills that are tied into the weekly news at home by visiting the Club Roo site.
Physical Education Adapted P. E. The students will go to PE class. Please dress your son or daughter in appropriate clothes and shoes for PE. Your child will need to wear gym shoes for PE class. Please send gym shoes to change into before class if they are not already Insert Title Here wearing INSERT TEXTthem HERE for the day. Gym shoes are required for PE
Life Skills We will be learning a different life skill every month. Some of these skills will be: -Brushing Teeth -Combing Hair -Washing Dishes -Setting table -Separating Laundry -Washing Hands -Other Life Skills
Snacks Daily Snack Please send a healthy snack with your child daily, as we will be eating snack as incorporated into our daily schedule. I am not able to allow candy or soda to be eaten as a snack. Allergy / Dietary Restriction Please inform me of all known allergies to food, medicine, etc, that your child may have. Also include any dietary restrictions if applicable.
Report Cards Students will be individually assessed on their goals that they will be working on throughout the year. These goals are from the individual IEP. These assessments will include both informal and formal teacher assessments. The assessments will be conducted to show a student’s progress or regression toward a specific goal. The curriculum is heavily guided by the individual goals of each student, in accordance to each student’s IEP. In addition, these goals are directly related to the grade level Common Core Standards as well as the Dynamic Learning Maps standards. Each student will be receiving four progress updates a year (one for each quarter). This will be in lieu of report cards. Updates on each students’ goals will be sent home at report card time.
