Work Station • Decide on a quiet place for your child to work • Free of distractions such as siblings, music or television • A desk or table is important for a writing surface to work on • All supplies should be there (books, earphones, device, etc. . . )
Routines • Help your child with getting on their device a little early to be ready to join our Google. Meet before 8: 15 AM • How will they know when to return from lunch break • Check what is due both on Google. Classroom and on Class Dojo (I have been sending a daily message to let you know what I'm expecting to have turned in to me • How will they know when to return from lunch break • Check in with your child to see what needs to be sent on Class Dojo in the form of a picture • When will your child finish their work after we leave our Meet for the day
Daily lessons will follow a rigorous pace Student work/homework will complement what is done in class Tests come at the end of chapters which differ in length Multiplication facts need to be mastered (timed tests to come) Math (Savvas -en. Vision)
Language Arts (Mc. Graw Hill-Wonders) Reading, writing, and grammar Assessment will take place every two weeks as we conclude a set of skills and strategies within a unit If you haven't already, take your child to the local library to get their own library card Students will write research reports, letters, descriptive essays, narrative stories, opinion essays, biographies, fill out forms, and write address correctly Accelerated Reader program (AR) will be used to motivate and assess independent reading throughout the year
Science (Houghton Mifflin) Transitioning to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Online program called Mystery Science Four units: The Power of Flowers, Animals Through Time, The Wonderful World of Weather, and Invisible Forces
Social Studies (Harcourt. Reflections) • Units: Native Americans of California, traditions, and geography • Students should know their address and phone number(s)

Grading Based on grade level standards Progress measured using assessments specifically designed for each standard or group of standards Rubrics used to score performance with a scale of 1 – 4 Students work on mastery of standards over the course of the school year Grades will be seen through Google Classroom as assignments are returned
Attendance Important for students to be in school every day they are physically able Absences result in lost learning which creates gaps that are hard to make up Request work through Class Dojo or email and consult our Google Classroom
Rules and Expectations/Rewards Posted on my website Consequences will require contacting parent(s) if the infraction necessitates Student work should be turned in daily as due dates indicate on Google Classroom (unless otherwise communicated) Students earn "Dojo points" for things such as: being on time, participating, patience, persistance, and working hard
