Mrs. Casserly Mrs. Mac. Donald 2 nd Mrs. Michalski Grade News AR Club: 2 nd Graders who read 5, 000+ words are The second graders are really enjoying chapter 3 – single digit subtraction! In particular, the kids are having fun working to master their subtraction facts using Wrap-Ups on a daily basis. Chapters 4 and 5 will be covered in October. Chapter 4 focuses on reading, interpreting and analyzing data from bar, picture and tally mark graphs. In chapter 5, students will begin adding 2 -digit numbers with and without regrouping as well as rounding numbers to the nearest ten. Be on the lookout for 100% tests! In addition , any students who meet their AR goal for the 1 st Trimester will earn a STAR with their name & picture to be displayed in the library! Language Arts Students are hard at work exploring topics such as fantasy vs. real life, cause and effect and making predictions when reading. We will integrate our Social Studies unit on mapping into our Language Arts block this month as we read both fiction and non-fiction map skills texts.
