Portfolios
Portfolios Though MBTA will not be collecting student portfolios, parents must keep a portfolio of their child’s work on file at home. Portfolios are an excellent way to track student performance and student growth as well as provide valuable information for assessing and grading. In the event you leave MBTA, a new school is likely to ask you to provide a portfolio.
Portfolios Ø Ø Ø Examples of items to include in the portfolio: Assessments Projects (or picture of projects with description) Writing samples Reading samples Math samples (from different strands) Worksheets with rubrics
Portfolios Please include work from all four core subject areas (e. g. , language arts, math, science, and social studies). It is also recommended to include work to show your child’s strengths as well as weaknesses.
Field Trips
Field Trips Teachers will inform parents of meeting location and drop off/pick up times. Students who wish to attend must reserve a space using the sign up genius.
Field Trips Some field trips will count as a class. Check the field trip list to see if it counts. Our field trip policy is that you may only count 1 field trip per month towards the 2 mandatory classes. Example: There are 2 field trips taking place in the month of September. Both will count as a class. A student may sign up to attend both field trips, but only 1 will count as a class. They must then sign up for a face to face class for their 2 nd class.
Field Trips All families must complete and submit a field trip permission form (for each student) at the beginning of the school year. This will only need to be completed once and will be in effect for the entire school year. Forms can be found on VC, under VIP (Very Important Papers) Please be sure to submit the completed sheet to me as soon as possible.
Field Trips Please note that field trip fees may be deducted from your child’s allotment. Simply check off the allotment box on the form. Field trip fees may also be paid by cash or check (payable to MBTA).
