Why Procedure? �Without procedures, students do not know what is expected of them. �Procedures facilitate efficiency. �Human Nature is to have procedures. �Where do you use procedures?

�Come into the classroom quietly and head to your assigned desk. Make sure you are sitting at your numbered desk. �You have five minutes between classes, use this time get a drink and to use the bathroom. �STUDENTS WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO USE THE BATHROOM/LEAVE THE ROOM ONCE PER WEEK. �If you need to sharpen your pencil, do it quietly before class. �Take class materials out of your backpack and put them on your desk. �Get out/turn in homework if we had the night before, and copy the agenda. In the beginning

• • • Next, begin the day’s drill sheet. The daily drill sheet will be posted on the projector. You should be doing your drill sheets in your folder on a piece of notebook paper. You may also use a notebook/composition book to work on your drill sheet. Work on the drill sheet until you complete it or until the teacher stops you. Beginning of class continued

Beginning Class �If you are late, come in silently and sign in. If you have a note, place it on my desk. �If you are tardy, I will take a tardy pass

• • When I am presenting new material I need everyone paying attention and taking notes. No one may leave their seat when I am rolling out new material. Pretend you are on an airplane that is about to land. • Discipline procedures will be strictly enforced if instruction is interrupted. During Instruction

�Classroom Discipline �First time: Verbal Warning �Second time: I will send home a discipline essay for you to write and your parents to read and sign. �Third time: Parent phone call �Fourth time: Referral to the Dean’s office.

�For major violations such as fighting, stealing, breaking materials on purpose, and other major violations, you will be sent to the Dean’s office immediately. �I keep records of discipline by class for documentation. �We all need to work together to make our classroom a good environment for learning! �I dismiss students, not the bell. �Do not interrupt the class by preparing for the bell. I will let you know when you may wrap up your work. When class is over
