Mountains of Wales is famous for its beautiful mountains. Many of these were created in the last ice age, around 12, 000 years ago. Welsh mountain sheep on the mountains of Snowdonia.
Snowdon The mountains of Snowdonia are located in North Wales. Here is Wales' highest mountain, Snowdon, at 1085 meters high. There are six official eight-mile trails to reach the summit. The summit can also be reached by train. Snowdon has a visitor centre, Hafod Eryri, at the summit.

Snowdonia is also famous for its spectacular waterfalls, valleys and lakes. Wales’ largest lake, Llyn Tegid, and largest waterfall, Pistyll Rhaeadr, are also here. There also various slate quarries on the mountains of Snowdonia. Slate was once exported around the world from North Wales.

The Black Mountain is a mountain range in South and West Wales, located within the boundaries of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The highest peak is Fan Brycheiniog, which is 802 meters high. The Black Mountains To the east, on the English border, is another mountain range, called the Black Mountains. The highest peak is Waun Fach at 811 meters high. Its curved summit is well known. From this mountain, there are views over Abergavenny and Brecon.
Fforest Fawr is located in Powys. This is an area full of lime cliffs and caves. It is located to the West of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Brecon Beacons The Brecon Beacons are situated in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales. Here you will find some of the highest and most famous mountains in Britain. Thousands of people walk here every year – it is possible to walk for miles without seeing a living soul!

Preseli Hills Located in Pembrokeshire, in South West Wales, the mountains have 15 peaks. The highest peak is Foel Cwmcerwyn at 536 meters high. Other peaks include Carn Ingli, Foel Eryr, Foel Feddau, Frenni Fach, Frenni Fawr and Foel Drygarn.
